Awards: The Monroe Housing Authority has set a standard of excellence which makes it a model housing agency by national standards. It has consistently been awarded a "High Performer" award by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from the implementation of the award in 1992 until present day. National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Awards MHA has been nominated for the prestigious National Award of Excellence every year since 1990, and Frank Wilcox, Executive Director, is the recipient of NAHRO Lifetime Fellowship Program Award. In addition, MHA has consecutively received Merit awards in a wide range of categories including Anti-Drug Program for Public Housing; Networking: Community Resources Combat Crime; Homeownership; School is Cool; Landscape Sustainability; Best Newsletter; Best Annual Report; and, many others. Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, consecutively since 2002 to present. Louisiana Housing Council Awards Through the years the Monroe Housing Authority has consistently been awarded meritorious awards in categories to include Best Newsletter, large housing agency; Best TV feature for Public Broadcast Television; Meritorious Accomplishment for NLU Football Clinic for Housing Authority residents; and much more. HUD Awards In addition to winning the prestigious High Performer award consistently since the awards implementation in 1992, MHA has achieved outstanding performance in a wide variety of categories to include: Sustained Performance Award; Certificate of Appreciation for creativity and leadership, HUD Region VI; Certificate of Special Achievement, HUD Secretary for efforts in the fight against drugs in public housing; Certificate of Appreciation from HUD Region VI for "Outstanding efforts in promoting Drug-Free Public Housing; and much more.
