PROPERTIES FOR RETIRED LIVING - OUACHITA GRAND PLAZA Located by the Ouachita River, this historic circa 1924 building, unique with its Jacobean architecture, was once the home of Ouachita Parish High School. Ouachita Grand Plaza is the ideal community for frail elderly persons needing some assistance yet able to live independently. The oversized hallways are perfect for personal transport vehicles such as motorized wheelchairs and scooters. Through a partnership with the Ouachita Council on Aging, we offer many support services including transportation for shopping and pleasure, congregate lunches, housekeeping and laundry service. Grand Plaza's location in the heart of downtown gives residents unparalleled access to doctors and medical centers. This historic downtown area is also rich in cultural and recreational venues including River Walk on the banks of the Ouachita River, Art Festivals, Masur Museum and an impressive collection of properties recorded in the National Historic Register. There are 91 affordable residences available to qualifying seniors, and handicap units are available. Each residence is equipped with a free standing range/oven; frost-free refrigerator/freezer; central heat and air; privacy blinds; smoke alarms; emergency pull chord in bedroom and bath; and, water and trash service are included.
